Program #80, Book Talk #39, Library #6, Boyden Library, Foxborough, MA

I road-tripped up to Foxborough (second time there; first was a preseason Giants/Patriots game) with Naomi for my first book-talk foray in Massachusetts (2nd will be next month at LimmudBoston) to present Zaidy's War.

I was greeted by a very engaged group, who wore their emotions on their sleeves. I noticed this while speaking, so I dialed back on some of the visceral horror that Zaidy experienced. I had triggered them enough.

I had the audience's full attention, who never took out their phones, and never napped. I've been working hard at the attention-keeping aspects of my presentation, which involve varying tone and volume to ensure engagement, keeping slides active, and using involving body language. It's working. Also, I had fixed everything Naomi said needed repair. She debriefed me on the way home with some more fixes, and I'll make those changes too. She's awesome to have along.

Highlight: my wife signaled to me when I had 10 minutes left. The lady sitting next to her noticed, leaned over, and said, "10 minutes? It doesn't feel like that at ALL!"

As an aside, this was my 13th public talk of the year, my most ever, and I continue going from strength to strength. Thanks to all those who host me, and come out to hear me!
