There's no place like home! Also, there's no talk like one where my mom shows up.

I brought my Zaidy's War talk to the lively, spunky, we-still-got-it seniors who were enjoying a morning full of activities at the Young Israel of Midwood.

Happens to be I used to pray here when I was a kid, and some of the administrators were still knocking about the place, and recognized me instantly. How about that!

For your reference, I was a kid about 30 years ago, perhaps earlier than that.

Also, nothing says old friendship like when a friend said to my mom, while pointing at me: "I remember when you were pregnant with him."

It was a pleasure to give back a little, to see seniors happy and active and thriving, to witness my mom's friends enjoy some vicarious pride, and to bring my storytelling to some attentive folks in my old neighborhood.
